Research Interests
I am currently interested in the material aspects of the Roman economy, characterising urban and rural landscapes as well as the Roman pottery of Northern Britain, Cambridgeshire and Northern coastal Syria., the use, manufacture and supply of Ceramic Building materials throughout the Roman world, and Medieval Britain. I also have a longstanding interest in integrating site and finds methodologies, sampling strategies and statistical analysis .

I am an honorary visiting fellow to the School of Archaeology and Ancient History, University of Leicester, from 2006, renewed 2011 to 2016.
I was chair of the IfA finds group from 2009-2011.
I was honorary secretary of the Study Group for Roman Pottery 2006-2009.
I am virtual secretary of the Archaeological Ceramic Building materials group.
I was on the IfA council from 2000 – 2006. I was vice chair of the validation committee 2007-2010, and a member of the Committee for working practise in Archaeology.
I am a member of Rescue, the Council for British Archaeology, the Medieval Pottery Research Group, the British Brick Society, the Finds Research Group AD 700-1700, The Roman Finds Group, The Study Group for Roman Pottery, and the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies.
I was elected associate of the Institute for Archaeologists 2000; Member from 2006.
I hold a full driving license, obtained in 1986.
I have successfully organised a number of 1-day conferences and day schools. In Ceramic Building Materials, Roman pottery and database work.
